Grand Valley wins NCWA Duals, Oakland finishes 4th
The Oakland University Wrestling Team competed in the NCWA Team Nationals on Saturday in Murfreesboro, TN.
Oakland was seeded #6 in the tournament and began the day by beating University of Dayton 47-10. Next up the Grizzlies took out University of Toledo with a score of 39-12. The biggest match of the day came when the Grizzlies wrestled University of Maryland/ Baltimore County, who was the #3 seed in the tournament. OU won 7 of the 11 match-ups to win 28-16.
In the semi-finals Oakland University lost to fellow Michigan school and eventual Champions, Grand Valley State University. The Grizzlies then geared up for the 3rd place match against #4 seed Marion Military Institute. The dual was tied up 21-21 going into the last match-up of the night, as the Grizzlies lost their final bout taking 4th place. Their are over 150 teams now in the NCWA, and Oakland and Grand Valley State were among the top 16 teams invited to this years NCWA National Duals.
