Outlook: This could be a rebuilding year for the Comets, who have been one of the elite programs in NCAA Division 3 the past few years. They graduated two NCAA Finalists in Jason Brew and Kyle Vanderhyde, and going into the season they have no wrestlers ranked in the preseason by D3wrestle.com.
Former 3x state champ Vince Lahar of Clio is back at 141lbs for Olivet after missing last year and is capable of being a force in thier lineup. Lahar won 28 matches as a freshman two years ago and is Olivet's best bet to be an all-american and contend for a national title, however, four other returning Midwest Regional Placers return as well.
Adam Wilson is back at 133lbs after posting an 18-13 record last year and finishing 4th at 133lbs. Nick Leon and Jim Neal return at 149 and 165lbs as well after they both finished 5th at the Regional last year. Neal was 23-12 last year for Olivet.
Joe Bargerstock comes back at 184lbs for Olivet after finishing 4th last year at the Regional. Bargestock is currently listed by D3wrestle.com as a top contender at 184lbs in their preseason rankings.
Olivet has a solid group of Michigan recruits coming in as freshman this year including 11 state placers, so the future looks bright as they will likely look for a couple of these youngsters to become players for them in the future.
