Morse, Bohn, Wildmo among freestyle state champs
Prep stars come out for MUSAW Freestyle/Greco finals

5/6 - The Michigan USA Wrestling hosted the Freestlye/Greco State Finals last weekend in Battle Creek and some of Michigan's top prep grapplers were in attendance.  Among those winning double titles in Freestyle and Greco Roman were high school state champs Jackson Morse of Lowell and Roger Wildmo of Durand, as well as greco all-american Jake Bohn of East Kentwood.

Cadet Recap
One of the most notable matchups of the weekend came at Cadet 125lbs where the 112lb
high school state champs from D2 and D3 squared off.  Durand freshman Roger Wildmo
beat 2x D2 champ Tyler Kesselring of Greenville in greco 3-2, 6-1 and then again narrowly
in freestyle 4-3, 1-3, 2-1.

Another high school state champ to win Cadet double titles was top ranked sophomore
Jackson Morse of Lowell, who won the 145lb crowns.  Other all-staters to win both styles
in Cadets was Ben Matthieson of Holt at 105lbs and Nick McDiarmid of Mason at 215lbs.

There was a glimpse of the future as some of Michigan's most promising 8th graders were
on display in the cadet division.  Jordan Thomas of Greenville, Jordan Wohlfert of St Johns,
and Freddy Rodriguez of Holt all won double titles, Taylor Massa of St Johns won in Greco
before getting injured during freestyle, and Gabe Morse of Lowell won in freestyle.

Nick Bohn of East Kentwood and Dave Severn of Coldwater also won Cadet state titles in both styles.

Junior Recap
Mike Curby of Hillsdale continued to impress as he won double titles at 171lbs
over former FILA Cadet champ Bryant Craft of Clarkston and 2x all-stater John
Rizgallah of Allegan.  Curby, who hasd been a Cadet and FILA Cadet greco
national finalist in the past year, is beginning to emerge as one Michigan's top
greco/freestyle wrestlers.

Another all-american to win both styles this weekend was Jake Bohn of East
Kentwood, who won them both at 160lbs. Bohn, who recently commited to
wrestle for George Mason University, is a Junior and FILA Junior Greco
All-American.

4x cadet All-American Brenan Lyon won two state titles this weekend without
stepping on the mat as he was the only entry at 98lbs.  Lyon, who broke through
in high school this year with a state runner-up performance, has been one of Michigan's most succesfull grapplers in Fargo the past two summers.

Jake Walters of St Johns won both styles in close bouts over all-stater Zach Davis of Davison at 130lbs.  Meanwhile, D3 state champ Andrew Schutt of Yale won double state titles at 140lbs and Seth Holt of Grand Haven won both styles at 189lbs.
