2009 Michigan Grappler Dream Team unveiled
4/30 - Michigan Grappler's third annual High School
Dream Team has been released. The 2009 wrestler of
the year, as announced earlier this week, is Hesperia
state champ and Senior National champ Dan Yates.
Fellow Senior National Champ Brenan Lyon also made
the 1st team this year in his first time on the Dream
Team. Other senior national all-americans to make
the 1st team include Craig Eifert of Mason at 140lbs
and Michael McClure of West Ottawa at 285lbs.
For the first time ever Michigan Grappler has a couple
of freshman on the 1st team as undefeated frosh state
champs Alec Mooradian of Detroit Catholic Central and Taylor Massa of St Johns both made the cut in their first years of High School competition.
Two juniors, Jake Dorulla of Rockford and Nick McDiarmid of Fowlerville, emerged on the 1st team for the first time in their careers while Conor Youtsey of Mason is the lone sophomore on the 1st team.
Yates, along with Cameron Amaties of Lanse Creuse and Dan Osterman of St Johns, are earning their second 1st team honor after being 1st teamers a year ago. They are in elite company as only 4 wrestlers in the past three years have made multiple Dream Team 1st team appearances.
St. Johns had the most 1st team selections with Massa, Osterman, and Jake Walters while Hesperia and Mason each had a pair of 1st teamers.
All 1st team members are now eligible to attend the 2009 Michigan Grappler Dream Team Camp for free while all Dream Team selections will be eligible to receive a discount rate at the 2009 Dream Team Camp. Dream Team Camp date, location, and details will be released soon on MichiganGrappler.com.
