1st Team

103 - Lincoln Olson (Davison), Fr.
Olson came into his freshman season surrounded by a lot of hype as he was one of the most
decorated youth wrestlers in the state throughout his elementary and middle school career.
He lived up to the hype with a dominant season from start to finish, going a perfect 46-0 en
route to the Division 1 State Tournament.  His relentless attacking style was evident at the state
tournament as he put up a ton of points - scoring 59 total match points in his 4 bouts while
going through the toughest possible road to the title.  He defeated pre-season #1 Kyle Gillies
in the quarterfinals, then tech-falled and majored two fellow stud freshman in Benny Gomez
and Camden Bertucci in the semifinals and finals.  His national success last summer made
him a clear pick for the 1st team after winning the FILA Cadet Greco National title last summer
and earning Freestyle All-American honors in Fargo.

112 - Zac Hall (St Johns), So.
Hall earns his 2nd straight 1st Team Dream Team selection after going 43-1 with St Johns
grueling schedule en route to the Division 2 State Title.  He did not lose to anyone in the state of
Michigan this year, and among his notable wins during the regular season were two victories over
the Division 1 Champ Mitch Rogaliner.  Hall continues to shine nationally, placing 3rd last summer
in both styles at Fargo, placing at the Super 32s, and finishing 2nd at the Grappler Fall Clasic.

119 - Tim Lambert (Forest Hills Eastern), Sr.
Lambert finally got the monkey off his back, winning his 1st D2 state title after falling just short in
his previous three attempts.  He went perfect this season en route to the title, however, it was his
off-season success last year that made him a lock for the 1st team Dream Team.  He finished 3rd
last summer in the Junior Freestyle Division to earn a Top 5 National Preseason ranking in which
he held all year long.  He also won the Grappler Fall Classic in October with a win over 112lb
Dream Teamer Zac Hall in the finals.  He is signed to wrestle next year at the Uniersity of Nebraska.

125 - Jacob Schmitt (St Johns), Jr.
Schmitt makes his 2nd career 1st Team Dream Selection after earning 1st team honors his
freshman year as well.  This year he finished 46-2 with his only losses coming to nationally
ranked Dean Heil of Ohio and 130lb 1st teamer Ken Bade.  He stamped the season with a big
11-1 finals win over Mason Cleaver and cruised to his 2nd state title with relative ease.  He
earned his 5th All-American honor in Fargo last summer, placing in Junior Greco, however, injury
kept him out of the freestyle portion of the event.  He reinforced himself as a major national player
by earning FILA Junior Freestyle All-American honors earlier this month competing against many
top collegiate lightweights.

130 - Ken Bade (Detroit Catholic Central), Jr.
After finishing the season with an impressive 50-1 mark and his 2nd straight Division 1 State
Championship, Ken Bade makes his first ever appearance on the 1st team Dream Team.  His lone
loss this year came to nationally ranked Ohio State Champ Dean Heil of St Eds and he scored a
notable win over 125lb 1st teamer Jacob Schmitt.  His state tournament was very dominant with a
pair of technical falls, one pin, and a 6-1 finals win.  Bade had a great season in terms of national
success, finishing runner-up at the Grappler Fall Classic with a 2-1 loss over nationally ranked Jack
Hathaway, and a 5th place finish at the FloNationals last month.  He also competed well at the
Super 32 Challenge last fall, falling a match shy of placing.

135 - Brant Schafer (St Johns), Jr.
Schafer had a breakout 2011-2012 season that started last summer with a Junior Freestyle All-
American finish, placing 5th in Fargo.  He followed that up with a standout junior season going
37-1 en route to his first state championship.  He was unbeaten in the state of Michigan, with his
lone loss coming to nationally ranked Edgar Bright of St Edwards, OH.  He cruised to the D2
finals with his only real test of the tournament coming in the finals where he out-lasted Cody
Stenberg of Reeths Puffer for a thrilling 10-8 overtime win.

140 - Ben Whitford (St Johns), Jr.
Whitford was a lock for the 1st team after finishing one of the most decorated seasons of any
Michigan wrestler.  He was a finalist for the Wrestler of The Year after going 42-0 en route to the
Division 2 State Title.  He won arguably the toughest bracket in the state, a weight that included
two other returning state champions, and he did so in impressive fashion with three pins and an
11-4 win over returning champ Gabe Morse in the finals.  His national resume is second to none,
including Junior National Titles in both Freestyle and Greco last summer and a dominant
performance en route to a Super 32 Championship.  He finished the season ranked #1 in his
weight class nationally and is considered one of, if not the top recruit in the country heading into
next fall.  He has already committed to wrestle for Michigan following his senior season next year.

145 - Taylor Simaz (Allegan), Sr.
Simaz got back to the top of the podium after winning a state title his sophomore year.  He
went 58-2 this year and won one of the best semifinal matches of the state tournament with a
5-2 win over Josh Pennell of St Johns.  Aside from his barn-burner of nationally accomplished
Pennell, Simaz cruised through the 145lb Division 2 bracket with a pin, a tech-fall, and a 15-5
major decision win in the state finals.  He enjoyed a successfull summer last year that
included Bronze Medal finish at the Disney Duals.  Simaz is signed on to follow his brother
Cam and wreslte at Cornell University next fall.

152 - Andrew Morse (Lowell), Sr.
Morse makes his 2nd straight 1st Team Dream Team appearance after an amazing senior
season that saw him finish unbeaten en route to his 2nd straight Division 2 State Title.  Among
his notable wins this regular season was a win over 3x state champ Alec Mooradian of DCC.  His
road to the state title was anything but easy as he had to go through returning state runner-up
Nick Starzek in the semis and Fargo All-American Travis Curley in the finals, however, he ran the
gauntlet without a hiccup.  He and his brother Gabe are both signed to wrestle at Northern Ilinois
next year.

160 - Jordan Wohlfert (St Johns), Sr.
Wohlfert lands on the 1st Team Dream Team for the second straight year after going unbeaten in
the state of Michigan on the way to his 2nd Division 2 State Title.  He sealed his first team spot
with a win over D3 champ and 2nd teamer Lelund Weatherspoon at the Goodrich TOC and put a
final stamp on his prep career by fininshing 3rd at the NHSCA Senior Nationals last month.
Wohlfert, who is signed to wrestle right up the road at Michigan State Universtiy next year, was
pure dominance at the State Meet, outscoring his opponents by a total of 83-17 with two tech-falls
and two major decisions.

171 - Drew Garcia (Detroit Catholic Central), So.
Garcia completed a standout season, especially for a sophomore 171lber, going 46-3 en route to
the Division 1 State Championship.  Among his wins this year was a victory over D2 runner-up
Chevez Farris, who is the 2nd teamer at this weight.  Last summer and fall was a breakout for
him, placing in both styles at the Cadet Nationals in Fargo.  He also put together a great showing
at the Grappler Fall Classic, finishing 2nd with a close loss to nationally ranked Justin Koethe of
Iowa in the finals.

189 - Jordan Thomas (Greenville), Sr.
Thomas' senior season was the most impressive of his great career as he went undefeated en
route to his 3rd Division 2 State Championship.  He scored two big wins over returning state
champion and nationally ranked Gabe Dean of Lowell, one of which coming in the state finals,
which was probably the most highly anticipated finals match of the tournament.  His national resume
continued to grow this year as well with a 4th place finish at the Super 32 this fall and a runner-up
finish at the NHSCA Senior Nationals this spring.  He is now a 3x First Team Dream Teamer and
finishes his career ranked 3rd nationally at his weight class.  He is signed to wrestle at the University
of Michigan next year.

215 - Shawn Scott (Holly), Sr.
Scott broke through this year with his first state title to cap an undefeated senior season.  He
scored a handful of notable wins this year, including a win over DCC State Champ and nationally
ranked Kevin Beazley.  Scott locked up his spot on the 1st team with his first placing at a big-time
national event, finishing 4th at the NHSCA Senior Nationals last month.  He is signed to wrestle at
Northern Illinois next fall.

285 - Adam Coon (Fowlerville), Jr.
Coon was a finalist for Wrestler of The Year and a lock for the 1st Team Dream Team after cruising
through his junior season en route to his 3rd Division 2 State Title.  He is ranked top 5 nationally by
virtually all polls in large part due to his wealth of national success.  Last summer he won the FILA
Cadet Nationals in both freestyle and greco-roman and won the FILA Cadet Freestyle World
Championship as well.  He was also a Junior Greco Champ and Freestyle All-American in Fargo
last summer.  This spring he continued to shine nationally with a dominant Junior Folkstyle National
Title in Iowa.

his 4th state title and a perfect career.  He finished his career as the top

land.  In addition to his stellar prep season, he also won the Super 32

summer and he is signed to wrestle for the University of Michigan next
fall.
