From Sparta to Spartan - Trimbles pick State

Recruiting Central

9/29 - Returning Division 2 State Champion Nick Trimble of Sparta informed MI
Grappler that he will be continuing his wrestling career next year and he will still be
a Spartan, but now for Michigan State University.

“The deciding factors were the great academics, athletics and the beautiful campus.
Also both my sisters went there so it is in the family.  I am from Sparta and already a
Spartan so it must be a good match!” said Trimble.

Trimble, who ranks as the #10 recruit in this year’s star-studded Michigan senior
class, won the 130lb State Championship last year and also went undefeated at the
Disney Duals last summer.  He is a 3x State Placer, finishing in the top 4 his
freshman and sophomore seasons, and projects at 141lbs for the Spartans.

“I want to be an NCAA champion and to get the MSU team a Big Ten title.  It is a good
fit because it seems that the team is focused and I connected with the coaches and
team very well,” said Trimble. “I see the program improving a lot and I see them
(MSU) sending many more wrestlers to the NCAA tournament in the coming years.”

Trimble joins 3x State Champ Freddie Rodriguez in the MSU recruiting class for this
year.  Rodriguez, the #3 recruit in Michigan, committed last fall and is projected at
125/133 for State.
