Dubose electrifies Fargo fans en route to Greco crown

6/23 - Marcel Dubose in one word: electrifying.  Dubose cruised through his pool the last two days, hitting big throws and lifts left and right along the way and that didnt change when he got to the big stage.  In the 215lbs finals Dubose put on a show, beating 4x Fargo National champ Tyrell Fortune of in one of the most exciting matches of the finals.

Dubose came out right out of the gates with a belly to belly throw right into a gut wrench to take a 5-0 1st period lead.  He then gave up a point trying another gut and eventually got gutwrenched himself.  He would win the wild 1st period 5-4.

The second period started a little slower than the first, neither wrestler scored in the 1st minute.  Dubose won the flip to get the first reverse lift, and he used it.  After failing to get the lift initially, Dubose used his astonishing athleticism to hoist Fortune back off the mat and launch him for a 3pt throw.  Immediately after landing, however, Fortune turned in and locked a reverse gut of his own.  He then lifted Dubose and threw him out of bounds for a 3 of his own, making the score 3-3 heading into the final 30 second clinch.  Dubose held strong on bottom for the final 30seconds and received a point for defending to make him a Junior Greco National champion.

After the final seconds ticked down Dubose sat on one knee and looked up to his corner, as if he didn't know he won.  After his coaches told him he won, Dubose exploded to his feet right into an incredible backflip that make the Fargodome crowd erupt.  A few flexes and screams of joy later, and Marcel Dubose was the talk of the dome.

145lber Jake Bohn finished the tournament as an All-American also, placing 6th.  Michigan finished 16th as a state.  Next up, Cadet freestylers hit the mat tommorow at 9:00am, check back for updates.
