Scouting Report (Fall 2010): Matthieson put together a great state tournament with wins over Leon Shannon as well as EMU recruit Jake Byers in the finals. He then solidified himself as a D1 recruit by making a run to the Senior National Semifinals and ended up finishing 6th. He was unbeaten in the state of Michigan this year and should now be one of the most sought after Michigan guys remaining unsigned.
(Fall 09) Matthieson has grown leaps and bounds since his freshman year when he was an undersized, out-manned 103lber. He fell just short of winning his 1st state title last year, losing a tight finals match to Fargo All-American Alec Mooradian, but he scored a big win over Brandon Shuart in the semis and officially solidified himself as one of the best lightweights in the state by finishing 2nd in a tough weight. In terms of National Competetions and year-round training you wont find many with his track record - Fargo, Disney, you name it he's been there. His work ethic and fiery style make him hard to pass up for college coaches looking for depth at 125/133.
