Curby finishes runner up at Greco Nationals

4/11 - Hillsdale sophomore Mike Curby has officially established
himself as one of the premiere prep greco-roman wrestlers in the
country.  Curby won his first four bouts at the FILA Cadet Greco
Roman Nationals today to advance to the finals where he fell 2-2,
3-1 to Tyler Beckwith of New York. 

Curby also finished runner up last summer in Fargo at the Cadet
Greco Nationals.  Beckwith was also a greco all-american in
Fargo last summer as was Preston Keiffer of New Jersey, who
Curby beat in his pool to make the finals.  Curby finished 3rd in
the state in Division 3 this year at 160lbs.

Also finishing runner-up in the FILA Cadet division was middle
school phenom Freddie Rodriguez of Holt.  Rodriguez went 2-1 at
92.5lbs, losing only to New Jersey's Tyler Fraley.

In the University Greco division two 07 Michigan high school grads earned all-american honors as CMU freshman Jarod Trice placed 6th at 264.5lbs and former Clarkston standout Frank Sade finished 8th at 138.75lbs.

Action will resume tommorow in Akron as the University and FILA Cadet wrestlers will battle for the freestyle titles.  Check back for updates tommorow.
