4/9 - Joe Warren proved why he is the baddest man on the planet last weekend as he blew through the greco 60kg weight class in Las Vegas to win the National Greco Championship.  Warren went unscored upon into the finals and topped his weekend off with a first period fall over Joe Betterman in the finals.  By winning the tournament he will be the top seed and favorite entering the World Team Trials later this summer.

Also making the finals from Michigan were MSU 4x All-American Nick Simmons and CMU assistant coach Casey Cunningham, but both lost their final match to finish runner up.  Simmons won the first period against Henry Cejudo, however, Cejudo rallied back to win the final 2 stanzas and take the match.  This probably wont be the last meeting of these two young freestyle stars.

Cunnigham, a former NCAA champ for CMU, made his comeback to competetion this spring and impressed many as he stormed through the first 3 rounds, knocking off the top seed Donny Pritzlaff to advance to the finals.  He fell in the finals, however, to former Iowa State star Joe Heskett.

Former UM wrestlers Andy Hrovat and Greg Wagner earned placings as well.  Hrovat, the top seed at 84kg in freestyle, fell in the semifinals to Joe Williams but came back to finish 3rd.  Wagner finished 8th at 120kg.

Current UM wrestler and All-American this year, Tyrell Todd, finished 5th at 84kg.  Todd put himself on the map at 84kg freestyle, earning several big wins including a win over this year's NCAA champion Jake Herbert of Northwestern.
