Freeze survives first test, MI teams continue to roll

6/25 - The second day of action at the Disney Duals in Orlando saw
the same type of results for Michigan as all three of the Michigan
squads remain undefeated. Red cruised through three duals today
and Blue won their first two with ease before getting tested by PA
Monster, but coming out on top 39-18.
Freeze had the biggest day of all the Michigan squads as they won
three duals and survived their first test against a tought Ohio Dragons
team. In the Ohio dual a few Freeze members knocked off nationally
ranked wrestlers, including Jordan Thomas of Greenville, who is not
even in high school yet. Thomas, who will be a freshman next fall at
Greenville HS, knocked off David Habat 4-3 at 140lbs. Habat is
currently ranked as the #8 sophomore 140lber in the country.
Thomas is undefeated through two days of wrestling against some of
the top preps in the country.
BJ Suitor may have picked up the biggest win of his prep career when he shutout the 11th ranked 103lber in the country, Ty Mitch of Ohio, 5-0. Mitch, a sophomore, currently sits 11th in the InterMat all-class rankings. Kyler Elsworth of Goodrich, who is ranked as the #5 junior 189lber in the land, met up with another top ranked grappler in Ohio's Cody Lamberg, who is listed as the #2 189lb sophomore by InterMat. Elsworth won the battle of ranked men witha 7-4 win.
Another matchup of ranked wreslters went down in Michigan Red's first dual of the day against Ohio Eagles when Brandon Zeerip met up with Ohio's Nick Sulzer. Both Zeerip and Sulzer were ranked top 5 in the InterMat class rankings (Zeerip is a junior, Sulzer a sophomore). Trailing late in the match Zeerip reversed Sulzer to his back to score reversal and back points and secure the win.
