8 Michigan Cadets advance to Day 2 of Greco-Roman

25 Michigan Cadets entered today's greco-roman National
Championship this morning and only eight remain. Two of the
remaining wrestlers, Taylor Massa and Nick McDiarmid, are
undefeated through the first day of competetion.
Massa, who is competing at 140lbs, has won every match by fall
or tech-fall and gave up his first points in his last bout to Matthew
Miller of Indiana. Massa enters tommorow 5-0. McDiarmid's
day, meanwhile, was not quite as smooth. He went 3-0 today at
215lbs with two of his bouts going three periods.
6 others survived day 1 with one loss. After losing his first round
match, Freddie Rodriguez scored back-to-back tech falls to
advance to day 2 at 91lbs. Blake Bitner won his first three at
105lbs and last his final match in a three period battle to Peter
Russo of Oregon.
Nick Bohn's only loss was his final match as well. Bohn won
his first four matches at 135lbs before losing his final match to
Tanner Hiatt of Iowa. Upperweights David Severn, Chris Heald, and Nathan Spieth all finished 2-1 on the day to remain alive in the all-american running.
Cadet Greco-Roman action will pick up tommorow at 3:30pm. The Junior Greco-Roman will be hitting the mats at 9:30am.
