Prep wrestler of the Week - Deven Brown (Carleton Airport)
1/15 - This week's wrestler of the week should be renamed wrestler of the month as this
young man has been on a tear as of late. Carleton Airport senior Deven Brown is currently a
perfect 29-0 on the year and has just moved to the #1 spot in the Division 2 rankings at 145lbs.
Last weekend Brown bumped up to 152 and picked up an impressive 12-6 win over returning
Division 4 state champ Bill Cloke of Manchester. The win added to Brown's growing list of
marquee wins which includes victories over Brandon Zeerip (D4 #1), Ryan Lake (D3 #2), and
Jordan Dusseau (D3 #4) in the last three weeks.
Brown finished last year 56-9, falling a match shy of placing in the Division 2 state tournament. At the rate he is at things are looking good for Brown to get over the hump and contend for a state title this year.
Michigan Grappler would like to congratulate Deven Brown for the being named wrestler of the week for the week of January 7th.! To nominate an individual for prep wrestler of the week, email results@michigangrappler.com
