6 Michigan freshman and sophomore earn national ranking
6/24 - InterMat released their Sophomore and Freshman national rankings this week and six Michigan grapplers made the rankings. In the sophomore rankings, which went 12-deep, state champ Jackson Morse of Lowell and Nick McDiarmid of Mason each nabbed the #5 spot at 140lbs and 215lbs, respectively. Morse's teammate Ryan Olep made the cut after finishing runner up in D2 this year, Olep is ranked 12th at 160lbs.
Also getting ranked in the sophomore rankings was 2x state champ BJ Suitor of Swan Valley, who landed the #8 spot at 103lbs as well as Ryan Nieman of Bullock Creek who is 11th at 125lbs.
The lone Michigan freshman to earn a ranking was Devin Pommerenke of Rogers City, who is ranked 4th at 285lbs. Pommerenke was a state placer this year in Division 4.
