MYWAY CLASH OF THE TITANS RECAP

Holt High School was the site of a long day of tough wrestling
Sunday.
That was the host site for the 4th Annual MYWAY Clash of the
Titans Tournament – a tournament bringing together all star
teams from each region of the state.
In the end, the Northeast Region was the winner in the Elementary Division, and the Central region came out of top in the Middle School Division.
The Elementary Division came down to a three-team race between Northeast, Central and Metro. All three ended the long day with a 5-1 record, but Northeast was awarded the first-place trophy on criteria.
“The kids stepped up when they needed to and, worked together as a team, both our elementary and middle school teams,” said Northeast Region Director Jeremy Amy. “It was a very tough tournament. This had some of the best kids from across the state we saw today.”
Leading the Northeast Elementary team to victory was Sean Spidle at 55 pounds, Brian Case at 97, Robert Rogers at 119 and Sam Kinne at heavyweight.
All four went 6-0 on the day.
The Central Region Middle School team also had four wrestlers go 6-0 and lead their team to victory. They were Ian Parker at 90 pounds, Kamen Storr at 95, Dylan Steward at 115 and Kevin Koenig heavyweight.
“We really came together as a team,” Central assistant coach Joel Parker said. “We had a couple of real close matches in the middle of the day, and carried that momentum through the day. Against Northeast, we needed a tech fall or a pin to win, and Koenig got us a pin and a two-point win, and from there the kids fed off that momentum.”
