Osterman undefeated after Junior Greco Day 1, 7 Michiganders advance
7/19 - After the first day of Junior Greco-Roman wrestling in Fargo, 7 Michigan wrestlers remain in the tournament.
The only Michigander who remains undefeated is Dan Osterman, who is 5-0 at 135lbs. Even with his 5 wins, Osterman is one of 7 wrestlers left in his pool.
Returning Greco All-American Mike Curby suffered an early setback as he was upended by Alan Gigolaev of Georgia in the 2nd round of competetion. Gigolaev went on to lose to Shane Stark of PA, who Curby defeated, therefore if Curby can string some wins together he is still likely capable of making the finals.
Kyle Pillars (105), Tyler Keselring (130), Joe Rendina (130), Dominque Walker (189), and Chris Heald (189) also advanced to the second day of competetion with one loss each.
Dominque Walker scored a big win over Craig Kelliher of Minnesota. Kelliher is a former Cadet Freestyle All-American and will be wrestling for Central Michigan in the fall. Keselring tallied a notable victory as well, downing national ranked Josh Keszler of South Dakota 0-2, 2-0, 2-0. Keszler is currently ranked 8th in the country at 119lbs by InterMat.
The Juniors will return to the mat tommorow morning and will wrestle along side the Cadets, starting at 9:00am CST.
