The third session of the Team State Finals has begun. The best teams in Division 4 are doing battle, and I will be focusing on the tilt between undefeated Iron Mountain, seeded third, and undefeated Dansville. This should make for one of the more compelling matches in the opening round of any division.

215- This is where the meet started. We are now nearing the end of the match with Dansville’s Arthur Bunce leading Iron Mountain’s Steve Opshal 8-3. Bunce picks up three crucial points at the end with a power half to give Dansville the major decision.

Dansivlle 4, Iron Mountain 0

285- Iron Mountain responds quickly as Adam Kent throws a headlock to pin Johnny Heinz in 52 seconds.

Iron Mountain 6, Dansville 4

103- Iron Mountain’s Cameron Jones takes on Dansville’s Cole Ragon. Jones picks up the first takedown a little over a minute into the match. Jones rides Ragon hard the rest of the period and Ragon takes bottom going into the second.
Jones picks up two points on a tilt. Ragon comes close to getting away a couple of times but can not finish.
The third period begins with both wrestlers on their feet. Jones picks up a takedown and ends the match with a pin.

Iron Mountain 12, Dansville 4

112- Ryan Gauthier from Iron Mountain bumps up from 103 to face Luke Ragon of Dansville. Gauthier scores the first takedown but gives up an escape and a takedown to trail Ragon 3-2. Gauthier takes bottom in the second.
Ragon continues to use his weight advantage to hold Gauthier down. Gauthier reverses off a scramble to take the lead. Gauthier leads 4-3 going into the third.
Gauthier scores on a locked hands penalty 45 seconds into the period. After an escape and a penalty, Gauthier leads 6-4. Gauthier gets a takedown. Gauthier wins 8-4. Big swing match goes to Iron Mountain.

Iron Mountain 15, Dansville 4

119- Johnny Craft from Dansville takes on Chase Gendron from Iron Mountain in another swing match.
Lots of action early. Each score a takedown and get a pair of escapes for a 4-4 tie at the end of one.
Gendron gets a reversal at the beginning of the period but Craft quickly escapes and scores off a double of his own. Craft even turns Gendron to his back near the edge of the mat for a three count. Gendron gets a crucial escape near the end of the period to cut Craft’s lead to 9-7.
Third Period begins with both wrestlers on their feet. Takedown Craft. Penalty point awarded to  Gendron. I don’t know why. Craft wins 11-8. Dansville probably needed that more than Iron Mountain did.

Iron Mountain 15, Dansville 7

125- Luke Benbow from Iron Mountain takes on Nick Vanduine. Lots of beating on the heads in the earlygoing. Vanduine scores on a slideby and rides out Benbow. Vanduine takes bottom up 2-0.
Benbow gets a reversal and throws the legs in immediately looking for a turk. Vanduine is being very effective with his spiral ride. Benbow takes down.
Vanduine continues to be very effective on top, dominating Benbow who so far has stayed out of trouble off his back. Benbow gets a reversal and a DEEP chickenwing. The match ends with Vanduine on the verge of going to his back but fighting for the 4-2 victory.

Iron Mountain 15, Dansville 10
