Morse knocks off Alton again in Dapper Dan

3/22 - The Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic is held annually in

Pittsburgh, PA and showcases the top prep wrestlers from the

state of Pennsylvania against the best that the nation has to offer.

Just being invited to the classic alone is a great honor and this year,

for the first time in recent memory (at least dating back to 2000), the

state of Michigan had two representatives in the Dapper Dan.

A pair of 3x state champions, Jackson Morse of Lowell and Ryen

Nieman of Bullock Creek, both received the honor of competing in

this year's Classic, and both were pitted against familiar foes.

Morse was set to square off with PA standout and #1 ranked

152lber in the coutnry, Dylan Alton. Two years ago at the 2008

Super 32, Morse knocked off Alton in a match that propelled him to

the national spotlight. Nieman, meanwhile, was pitted against the

only wrestler who beat him in Fargo last year, eventual champion

Josh Dziewa of PA.

Morse won again this time around, silencing any doubts or

skepticism about his last win over Alton coming in a shortened match (Super 32s wrestle 2-1-1 periods). The final score for the Illinois-bound Morse was 7-6 over Alton, who will also be competing in the Big Ten at Penn State.

Nieman fell victim to Dziewa again, losing by a final score of 14-5. Dziewa was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Classic for his win over Nieman, who was ranked #1 coming in.
