National Titles on the line in Virginia & Ohio at NHSCA & Flo

3/31 - A huge weekend of wrestling is in store for us in the coming days as many of Michigan's top wrestlers will be in action at the major Folkstyle National Tournaments - the FloNationals and the NHSCA Senior Nationals.

Senior Nationals
Traditionally, there are few national tournaments with as much prestige as
the Senior Natioanls.  However, Michigan's representation at the Senior
Nationals is much lower than it has been in year's past as some of the top
seniors, including Conor Youtsey and Roger Wildmo, have opted to wrestle
at Flo instead.  This year Michigan features only 17 seniors at the event,
which is down from 30 a year ago.

There is still a strong group of Seniors heading down to Virginia Beach to
try their luck, including nationally ranked Joe Rendina (130) and Justin
Heiserman of Dundee (189).

State Champs Brandon Fifield (119), Chris Rau (130), and Camryn Jackson
(135) are a few other names to watch at Senior Nationals who go in with
some prior national tournament sucess under their belts.  Jackson is a
returning Fargo All-American.  While the state of Michigan is not sending a
ton of nationally renowned wrestlers to Virginia Beach as in year's past, a
number of wrestlers competing this weekend have a good shot at making a
name for themselves on the national stage.

FloNationals
The FloNationals are only in their second year of existence, however,
they are quickly building a reputation as one of the premiere high
school events in the country.  Michigan will be one of the most well-
represented states competing this weekend and a pair of Michiganders
landed top seeds.  3x state champs Conor Youtsey (119) and Roger
Wildmo (140) are the #1 seeds in their respective weight classes.

Youtsey, a returning FloNational Champion and Wildmo, who finished
3rd last year at the FloNationals, are arguably the top two seniors in
Michigan and they are both strong bets to finish high this weekend in
Ohio.

Three other Michiganders landed top 4 pre-seeds.  D1 State Runner-
Up Kevin Beazley is the #2 seed at 160lbs, D2 State Champ Gabe
Dean is the #3 seed at 189lbs and D1 state champ Justin Oliver
landed the #4 spot at 112lbs.

Action will begin at Walsh Jesuit High School Saturday morning and
Michigan Grappler will be on-site all weekend long with daily updates
and crazy video coverage.
