Weber, Salata win medals at Canada Cup
7/7 - Many of America's top female wrestlers spent
their 4th of July weekend in Gueplh, Ontario for the
2009 Canada Cup.
Two Michiganders finished in the top 4 as Goodrich
grad CC Weber finished 3rd in the Senior division at
105lbs while Julia Salata of Canton finished 3rd in the
Junior division at 132lbs.
Weber, who finished 3rd at this year's US Senior
Nationals at 105lbs, finished the tournament 5-1,
suffering her only loss to fellow American Alyssa
Lampe in the second round. She came back to win
her final three matches, including a a win over Victoria
Anthony, who beat Weber at the World Team Trials
just over a month ago. In the finals Weber avenged
her loss to Lampe to claim the bronze medal.
Salata, who will be a junior at Canton High School
next year, finished 4th at 132lbs in the Junior Division
after falling to Canadian Senior National Champ Dori
Yeats in the semifinals.
