Michigan claims 8 All-Americans Elementary Duals
4/18 - Some of the best K-5 wrestlers in the country got together in
Kingsport, TN this weekend for the AAU Elementary National Duals
and MYWAY sponsored a Michigan team filled with MYWAY State
Champs and placers to compete.
The team lost a few close duals in their pool that set them back from
placing high, however, there were a handful of individuals who earned
All-American honors with their performances.
Pacing the team were three individuals who went undefeated on the
weekend. Sean Spidle (45lbs), Elijuh Weaver (55lbs) and Brenden
McRill (95lbs) all went 8-0 over the three days, including big wins over
Pennsylvania and Illinois on the first day of action.
Also earning All-American honors by winning at least 5 matches on the
weekend was Brock Prater (50lbs), Layne Malczewski (75lbs), Trent
Henkel (80lbs), JD Greathouse (90lbs), and Trent Hillger (100lbs).
McRill, who wrestles for CMS Wrestling Club, has been on the MI Grappler All-Future Youth Dream Team the last two years
