MI Youth wrestlers make statement at Dixie Nationals

12/30 - As in years past many youth wrestlers from the state of
Michigan traveled to Atlanta for the Dixie Nationals.  This year
Michigan also took down a K-3 grade team to compete in the Minion
Duals at the Dixie Nationals. 

Team Michigan came away with a strong second place showing
finishing the day 4-1.  Michigan beat South Paulding 31-12, Georgia
Outlaws 29-14, and Florida Elite 32-16 to win their pool and then
topped Young Guns 32-14 in the semi-finals.  Team Michigan then
wrestled the host Minion,Georgia team in the finals falling in the final
match of the dual 22-20. 

Team members included Patrick Wlodyga, Aden Williams, Bryce
Cheney, James Johnston, Jimmy Colley, Caden Natale and Manny Rojas.  The team was coached by Todd Cheney, Jason Natale, and Andy Johnston.

Day two of the Dixie Nationals and Michigan was dominate as all nine Michigan wrestlers that traveled with the group placed in the top six.

40 Patrick Wlodyga (Rampage) - National Champion (Outstanding Wrestler-most pins in least time)
50 Aden Williams (Donahoe) - 4th Place
65 Bryce Cheney (Hartland) - National Champion
70 James Johnston (Donahoe) - National Champion
70 Jimmy Colley (Donahoe) - 3rd Place (Most Valuable Wrestler-showing heart, determination, & sportsmanship)
75 Caden Natale (Donahoe) - National Champion
85 Manny Rojas (Donahoe) - 2nd Place

10 and Under
70 Kyle Kantola (Hartland) - 5th Place
70 Alex Facundo (Donahoe) - 6th Place
