Easton Turner wins Fab 50, Wrestler of The Year Finalists named

8/24 - The 2012 Fab 50 is officially in the books and the Fab 50 Standings are now final.  With 184 points, Easton Turner of the Shamrock WC has finished atop the Fab 50 Standings.  Finishing runner-up was Devon Pingel, followed by Landon Pelham, Jordan Hamdan, and Manuel Rojas. The top five wrestlers have been named the finalists for Michigan Grappler's 2012 Youth Wrestler of The Year.

The Top 10 wrestlers in the Fab 50 standings have earned automatic spots on the All-Future Team.  Read below to see bios of the Youth Wrestler of The Year Finalists.  You can vote below for your pick on the Youth Wrestler of The Year.  Check back next week for the winner and for the unveiling of the complete Michigan Grappler All-Future Team.

MICHIGAN GRAPPLER's "'FAB 50" YOUTH WRESTLER OF THE YEAR FINALISTS

Easton Turner (Shamrock WC)
Turner enjoyed a consistent year as one of the top young upperweights in the state, starting out with his Grappler Fall Classic title in October.  He followed that up by winning the Border Wars Nationals and the MYWAY Spartan Country Tournament.  Turner was a Freestyle & Greco-Roman State Champ and finished 3rd at the MYWAY State Tournament.  He excelled nationally throughout the year, placing 3rd at the Tulsa Nationals, while adding NUWAY National Titles and Viper Pit Titles to his name.  He finished atop the Fab 50 Standings, 18 points ahead of the rest of the field.

Devon Pingel (Clio/Team Donahoe)
Pingel was one of the top 8th graders in the country with big national tournament wins at the Grappler Fall Classic, Super 32, Border Wars Nationals, Tulsa Nationals, and Liberty Nationals.  He also finished 3rd at the Viper Pit and Runner-Up at the Ohio Tournament of Champions.  Pingel cruised to a MYWAY State Title, pinning his way to the title.  He also finished runner-up in the Fab 50 Standings and did not lose to any Middle School competetitors in the state of Michigan throughout the Fab 50 Season.

Landon Pelham (Tecumseh)
Pelham was rarely touched within the state of Michigan with his only in-state loss during the Fab 50 schedule coming to High School competetion at the MUSAW Freestyle State Finals & the Borderwars Nationals.  He was 1st at the Grappler Fall Classic, 1st at the Tulsa Nationals, 1st at the Ohio Tournament of Champions and runner-up in both styles at the Cadet Freestyle & Greco Nationals.  He won the MYWAY State Title and MUSAW Greco State Title, and finished 3rd in the Fab 50 Standings.

Jordan Hamdan (Hudson)
Hamdan was spotless within the state of Michigan this year, winning the Triple Crown of MYWAY Folkstyle State Champ along with MUSAW Freestyle and Greco State Champ.  At the MYWAY State Tournament he cruised with three 1st period pins and two 10+ point wins in the semis and finals.  He shined on the national stage as well, winning the Grappler Fall Classic, NUWAY Nationals, and Viper Pit.  He was also 2nd at the Ohio Tournament of Champions and finished 4th in the Fab 50 Standings.

Manuel Rojas (Team Donahoe)
Rojas emerged as one of the top up-and-coming youth wrestlers in the state this year, winning the trifecta of MYWAY State Title along with MUSAW Freestyle & Greco Titles.  At the MYWAY State Meet he was outstanding, winning 3 of his 4 matches via first period fall.  He also shined nationally, winning the Liberty Nationals, finishing runner-up at the NUWAY Nationals & Border Wars Nationals, and finishing 4th at Tulsa.  He finished 5th in the Fab 50 Standings.
