Chipps down #6 Maryland, go 4-0 at Northeast Duals
11/28 -Tom Borelli's 10th ranked Central Michigan team
gave a glimpse of what they are capable of this
weekend as they blew through the Journeymen
Northeast Duals, going 5-0 with two wins over ranked
opponents. CMU blew out #18 Virginia 25-12 and then
scored a 21-16 win over 6th ranked Maryland.
True sophomore Scotti Sentes was a perfect 4-0 on the
day for the Chipps at 133lbs, including three falls. In an
interesting lineup shuffle, returning NCAA Runner-Up
and top ranked Mike Miller competed up at 184lbs while
redshirt freshman Ben Bennett wrestled down at 174.
The move went well as Miller won all three of his
matches at 184 and Bennett went 3-1 at 174. Bennett
lost 3-1 to 6th ranked Chris Henrich of Virginia, however,
he scored a 4-2 win over #3 ranked Mike Letts of
Maryland, giving him his first win over a Top 10
opponent.
CMU also downed American (29-19) and Bloomsburg
(23-15).
The University of Michigan was also in action on Saturday, going 1-2 at the Northeast Duals. After dropping their first two duals by 1 point, the Wolverines bounced back with a 19-12 win over Penn. Michigan captains Zac Stevens (133) and Anthony Biondo (197) led the way with 3-0 records.
