Scoring
Each contestant will make 2 picks in each weight, 1 "favorite pick" and 1 "darkhorse pick"
1) "Favorite Pick" - for this pick it is suggested that you pick whoever you think has the best shot at winning the whole tournament. The scoring for this pick will be simple, based on your pick's tournament placing, wrestler mus AA to score points:
2) "Darkhorse Pick" - for the darkhorse we suggest that you pick a lower seed that you think will overperform his seed and surprise people. The scoring system will be favored so that lower seeds placing high can result in big points, here is how the scoring for this pick will work:
*formula: wrestlers seed - actual place = score (note: all unseeded wrestlers will count as 15 for seed)
--example: wrestler seeded 10th wins the tournament: (10-1=9pts) or unseeded wrestler places 7th (15-7=8pts)
*bonus points
3pts = if your pick finishes at least 6 places higher than his seed
--example:you pick a 9 seed, he finishes 1st, 9-1=8, you get the 3 bonus pts
2pts = if you pick a wrestler seeded 9th or lower and he places top 4
5pts = if you pick a wrestler seeded 9th or lower and he places top 2
**hint - there is a possibility for big bonus pts if you pick a wrestler seeded 9th or lower**
The points you earn from the formula above will be added with any bonus points to make up your total points for each darkhorse pick
The total points from all your 20 picks will be your final score, top 10 scores will get a Michigan Grappler prize package. The final standings will be posted on Michigan Grappler home page by Monday morning.
