Border Wars Winter Nationals & All-Star Duals slated for December 27&28!
12/11 - Back in January of 2007, tournament and wrestling event creator Rob Stehley
had a vision to build the ultimate youth wrestling weekend in the state of Michigan.
Last December Mr. Stehley started the annual Winter Nationals & All-Star Christmas
Duals. The event was a huge success in 2007 and looks to have gained some huge
momentum for 2008.
The 2007 All-Star Duals had 15 teams from all over the Midwest that included clubs
from Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana. "The teams that showed
up last year came to compete and level of competition really showed. These are
our bright young stars of the future." said Stehley. When discussing the 2008
All-Star Duals there looks to already be approximately 18 teams committed with
4 to 5 teams still deciding. The level of competition this year is going to be fierce
and it should be interesting to watch these kids compete for team championships.
The concept of team competition is a fairly new idea to the state of Michigan
at the youth level. Over the past 2 to 3 years Rob Stehley has opened all
our eyes right here at home in Michigan. He has pushed off-season dual
competitions, MYWAY dual competitions, and his latest project the Border
Wars All-Star Duals. If everyone takes note at the opportunity to teach our
youth wrestlers the value of team competition in wrestling then Michigan will
one day in the near future be at the top of the nation.
The first part of the All-Star duals weekend will be kicked off by the Border
Wars Winter National Championships. The event is open to any wrestler
who wants to compete. Unlike other Border Wars Wrestling competitions,
you do not need to qualify for this national event. The top 6 place winners
from the Winter Nationals will qualify to compete in the 2009 Border Wars
Folkstyle National Championships.

Michigan don't miss your chance to compete against wrestlers from other
states and protect our own backyard.
Both events to be held at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, MI.
