Prep wrestler of the Week - Zac Stevens (Monroe)
1/9 - The Michigan Grappler prep wrestler of the week for the week of January 1st is Monroe
senior Zac Stevens.  Stevens won the Monroe Country Sherriff's tournament last weekend,
defeating D3 state champ and #1 ranked Pete Rendina of Dundee in the finals by a score of
6-2.  Stevens upended another state placer in Airport's Chris Cavins by major decision 10-2.
Stevens is 3x Division 1 state placer and finished runner up last year.  He is currently ranked
as the #14 senior recruit in the state.

Stevens narrowly won wrestler of the week over fellow MOCO Sherriff Champ Chris Eggert of
Dundee.  Eggert, a state runner up last year, knocked off returning D1 state champ Alex
Ortman of Bedford in the 160lb finals.  In addition, over break when Wrestler of the Week was
on hiatus Deven Brown of Carleton Airport strung some big wins together.  Brown defeated
2x all stater Brandon Zeerip of Hesperia as well as D3 runner up Ryan Lake of Columbia
Central en route to the 145lb title at the Goodrich TOC just after Christmas.  Brown beat
another ranked wrestler in Jordan Dusseau of Erie Mason to win the Monroe County Tourney.
