Cunningham returns to action at Northeast Senior Regional
Handful of Michiganders in action this weekend
Michigan State's Franklin Gomez (pictured) also won gold this weekend.  Gomez, a redshirt freshman 125lber for the Spartans, won the 60kg title, defeating veteran Danny Felix of Sunkist Kids in the finals.  Rex Kendle of MSU also placed, earning 3rd at 74kg.  Kendle, who wrestled 165 for the Spartans last year and hails from Edwardsburg, MI, came back from a 1st round loss to string together 6 in a row to place 3rd.  The third Spartan to place was MSU's 197lber Nick Palmeri, who placed 2nd at 96kg.  Palmeri fell to Blair Academy prep star Jared Platt in the finals.

Former CMU 133lber and current Chippewa assistant coach Jason Borelli placed 4th at 66kg.  Borelli, a HS State Champ for Mt Pleasant, made it to the semifinals but fell to eventual champ Eric Albright.

Rounding out Michigan's place winners was The University of Michigan's Chad Bleske, who placed 3rd at 120kg.  Bleske is a freshman heavyweight for the Wolverines and was a Michigan HS State Champ for Romeo.
3/25 - The Northeast Senior Regional's were this weekend in Brockport, NY, and the State of Michigan was well represented.  Central Michigan assistant coach Casey Cunningham made his return to action in grand fashion as he dominated the competetion, claiming the 74kg title without surrendering a point.  Cunnigham was also a NCAA champion for the Chippewas and was a State Champion in High School for Fulton.
