Disney Duals wrap up with all Michigan teams in Top 6

6/29 - The AAU Scholastic "Disney" Duals wrapped up Friday in Orlando with all three Michigan squads finishing in the top 6. Michigan Red advanced to the championship final where they were defeated by the Ohio Samsons 30-18. Ohio's win over Red completed the sweep as they defeated all three of the Michigan squads in Disney.
There were three duals that pitted Michigan squads against each other as Michigan Red defeated Freeze to make the finals and then Michigan Blue defeated Freeze as well to make the 3rd-4th place match. All three Michigan teams lost their final match so Red finished 2nd, Blue finished 4th, and Freeze ended up 6th.
Leading the way with individual performances was 5 Michigan wrestlers who ended up with perfect records. Red's uppwerweights were anchored by three dominant performances from Alex Ortman at 152, and Jacob Burge and Ben Bennett who swapped at 171 and 189. For his performance Burge was named the outstanding wrestler of the event.
Senior National Runner Up Mark Weber was up a couple weights from his season weight as he wrestled at 145 this week, but his results were the same as he tore through the competetion and finished a perfect 9-0 for Team Freeze. Donnie Corby of Croswell-Lexington finished undefeated for Freeze at 135lbs.
