The Michigan Grappler/MYWA Prep Wrestler of the week for the week of December 3rd
is Jackson Morse of Lowell and Brennan Brumley of Warren Woods Tower. Morse, a
sophomore, and Brumley, a senior, both knocked off 3x state champ Mark Weber of
Goodrich last weekend at the Warren Woods Tower Duals.
Morse was a state runner up as a freshman last year at 125lbs, losing a thrilling finals
match to Andrew Novak of New Boston Huron, who now starts for Eastern Michigan.
Morse competed at 140lbs last weekend where he beat Weber and picked up 4 other falls
on the day as well. He also wrestled a ranked opponent from Greenville last week in their
dual, picking up a fall over Derek Ladermann. While he has been at 140 so far this year, it
is rumored that he may be down at 135 later in the year and he currently sits #1 in the
Division 2 rankings at 135lbs.
Brumley, a senior at WWT, went 5-0 last weekend at his home dual tournament and
garnered the tournament Outstanding Wrestler award. Aside from knocking off Weber, he
racked up 3 falls and a technical fall as well. Brummley has finished as a Divsion 2 state
runner up the past two seasons, losing close battles to former Plainwell standout
Jeff Steele both years in the finals. Brumley gained alot of national expierence last
summer, competing at the Disney Duals and Junior Nationals in Fargo. He currently sits
#1 at 140lbs in the rankings following his big win over Weber.
