2010 Grappler Fall Classic News/Updates
1st Annual Grappler Fall Classic wraps up in Tecumseh!
10/20 - The 1st Annual Grappler Fall Classic was a huge success last weekend in Tecumseh, MI as nearly 400 wrestlers came from across the Midwest and as far south as Florida to compete in an intense, college-style environment at Tecumseh High School. 15 Individuals were crowned champions - check out the full results as well as photo galleries and hundreds of videos on the Grappler Video Page.
Melick brothers signed up for Grappler Fall Classic!
10/6 - The Grappler Fall Classic is just over a week away and the big name entries continue to roll in. State Finalist brother tandem Justin and Todd Melick of Lake Fenton both registered today. Justin was a Division 1 State Champion last year and Todd was a Runner-Up in D1. Justin will be wrestling 140 for the Grappler Fall Classic and Todd will be at 119. Another recent All-State entry came in from Ferndale as junior Chevez Farris registered to compete at 171lbs. Farris was a Division 2 State Placer last year, finishing 5th at 171. Sproles, Labelle, Wisdom among recent entries
10/2 - The total number of entries for the Grappler Fall Classic is on the verge of exceeding 300 as the registration has been pouring in this week. Among the recent notable entries include 2010 Div 3 State Runner Up Travis Sproles of Dundee, MI, as well as Michigan All-Stater Jarrad Labelle of Davison and Florida
All-Stater Andrew Wisdom of Cardinal Gibbons High School. Sproles is registered at 119, Widsom is at 135, and Labelle is at 189. Click "Entry List" to see the full entry list.
MI State Champ & FL All-American boost loaded 112lb class
9/29 - The already stacked 112lb weight class for the Grappler Fall Classic received another boost today as Luke Bell of Decatur, MI and Alex Uhre of St. Thomas Aquinas, FL both registered at that weight. Bell is a 2010 Michigan State Champ and Uhre was 3rd in the Florida State Championships. Uhre was a Fargo All-American, placing 7th in Cadet Greco and Bell was a 2010 Disney Duals All-American. They join Fargo Double Champ Freddie Rodriguez, D3 State Champ Stephen Ireland of Richmond, MI, and D2 State Runner Up Joey Golani in a star-studded 112lb weight class.
MI, IL, WI standouts among Grappler Fall Classic recent entries
9/28 - The entries for the Grappler Fall Classic, which will take place October 16th in Tecumseh, continue to roll in. Among the notable recent entries include all-state big man Drake Renas of Big Rapids, MI who is a 2x State Placewinner, and Colin Holler of Carl Sanburg, IL who was 5th in the state last year as a freshman. Another recent entry is youth standout Ty Pelot of Wisconsin who has garnered a wealth of national success over the past few years on the youth circuits. Renas is entered at 215, Holler is entered at the already stacked 145lb weight class, and Pelot is one of many talented freshman now entered at 105lbs. North Carolina State coach Lee Pritts hosting Grappler Classic Clinic
9/25 - North Carolina State assistant coach Lee Pritts will be flying into Michigan October 15th, scouting talent at the Grappler Fall Classic on the 16th, and hosting a Technique Clinic on Sunday the 17th. The former Eastern Michigan University All-American will be running the official Grappler Fall Classic clinic the day following the event. For more info on the Clinic, clickhere.
State Finalists from Florida, Nebraska entered in Grappler Fall Classic
9/21 - The Grappler Fall Classic entry list received a boost from out-of-state yesterday as State Finalists from Florida and Nebraska registered to come to Michigan and do battle October 16th in Tecumseh. 3x Florida state finalist Pete Baldwin of Osceola High School, who was a FloNational Runner-Up last year and is currently ranked as the #32 senior recruit in the country by InterMat was among the entries. Also getting registered was Florida state runner-up Fox Baldwin at 125 and Nebraska state runner Nyle Bartling at 189.
All-Staters Fifield, Bonner and Jenkins among recent sign-ups!
9/19 - The full list of registrants for the Grappler Fall Classic has been posted. State Champion and #7 recruit in Michigan Brandon Fifield is among the recent signups, pushing the total state champ number to 10! Among other recent additions to the ever growing list of all-state wrestlers is 2010 Division 2 State Runner Up Adam Bonner of Greenville as well as Jeff Jenkins of Tecumseh, who was 3rd in the state in Division 2 last year.
