Cooper takes over lead in Michigan Grappler Fab 50
5/7 - Updated standings have been released for the 2008-09 Michigan Grappler Fab 50 and
for the first time in over a year, Mark Hall is not in the lead.
Big Rapids 8th grader Zack Cooper of Michigan Xtreme has emerged as the new leader of
the Fab 50 with a commanding 50 point lead over the rest of the field. Cooper has scored
big points with MYWAY & MMWA state titles as well as Border Wars Fall and Winter
National championships and a tournament win at the Viper Pit tournament in Ohio, among
his many accomplishments this year.
The race for 2nd is close right now with Dalton Ballantine of Clio, Andrew Hughes of Holt, Mark Hall of Davison, Dominic Russ of CMS, Kane Williams of Clio, and Anthony Gonzales of Ortonville all within 30 points of each other.
The leader of the Fab 50 standings at the end of the year will be named the 2009 Michigan Grappler Youth Wrestler of the Year and the top 10 in the standings will earn an automic spot on the 2009 Michigan Grappler All-Future Team.
There are currently over 120 entries for this year's Fab 50 standings and entries are still being accepted. To be included in the Fab 50 send a wrestler's tournament results from all Fab 50 sponsored events from the 08-09 year to fab50@michigangrappler.com.
The only event currently remaining on the Fab 50 schedule is the USAW Central FS/GR regionals, which will be held May 22-23 in Columbus, OH. We are currently in the process of finding another spring/summer event to add to the Fab 50 and details will be released soon.
